We use 'big data' to inform and evaluate real-world care innovations for older adults.
Our health care system and clinical training programs were designed when we had a young population. Our ageing population is transforming the medical care emphasis from an approach focused on somatic, curable illness to one focused on chronic and complex disease. The greatest challenge of health care systems today is to evolve toward a more holistic and collaborative approach to care.
The Big Data & Geriatric Models of Care Research Cluster (BDG Cluster) is a collection of scientists and clinicians that use ‘big data’ to inform and evaluate better models of care for older adults in communities across Canada. We work in community care, emergency care, hospitals, and long-term care.
